American Nanny Company

The American Nanny Company, Inc. is a private child and home care placement agency founded in Boston in 1985 by Marsha Epstein in response to the pressing need for quality in-home care and general family life support. Her own needs as a new mother with a career was an important impetus in launching an agency that would stress top notch customer service, and the delivery of caregivers offering dedication, professional experience, responsibility and reliability to family employers.

Ms. Epstein served as a tenured professor of sociology for thirteen years prior to the founding of ANC. She also served, twice, as Vice-president and board member of the International Nanny Association and was a founding member of the Network of American Nanny agencies. She was also a member of Representative Gardner’s legislative subcommittee on the regulation of nanny agencies. She has also served as a board member and consultant to the nanny training program at Middlesex Community College. Recognized as an expert in the field, Ms. Epstein has presented seminars on “Finding and Hiring a Nanny” at Harvard, Harvard Medical School, Children’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Mass Eye and Ear Hospital and for a number of local parent groups.

As in-home care experts, ANC prides itself on demystifying and simplifying the placement process so that our clients can make smart choices in hiring and learn the tools for maintaining a successful relationship.

The ANC Advantage

As a boutique agency, we focus more on relationships than numbers and profits. As partners, to the families we work with, we dedicate ourselves to coming up with the solutions, services and support that will complement their needs, job description and help them cope with the pressures of integrating family and work life. From childcare to eldercare to helping family members with disabilities, our staff members are innovative, flexible, knowledgeable, caring, non- judgmental and enthusiastic. Our diligent screening will take the worry out of welcoming a caregiver into your home and our ability to think out of the box will be welcome by the client with unique needs.
