All nannies referred by American Nanny Company have been thoroughly
screened and selectively chosen. Minimally, they are high school
graduates, between the ages of 19 and 65, American citizens, and
are experienced in working with children. The majority of our
live-in applicants are in their twenties and have had significant
formal or informal experience working with children. A large number
of our candidates have a college degree or have had some college
and/or related training preparing them for work as in-home caregivers.
Prospective nannies must demonstrate a genuine interest in and
understanding of children. They must also demonstrate a willingness
to get along with others and to adapt to a new family life style
and setting for a period of at least one year. Of utmost importance
is the applicant's character, personal attributes, professional
background, professional outlook, and appropriate motivation for
working with children. We are interested in candidates who are
committed to in-home child care and to the well being of the family
systems they will join as professional adjuncts. While nannies
are required to make a minimum of a year's commitment to the employer
family, it is not at all unusual for them to stay on longer. Nearly 50%
of ANC nannies do stay on longer than the initial year's commitment.
This is a trend we encourage and a reflection of the new regard
with which the profession of nanny is being held. |
